These terms cover your use of Boh, a language-learning app where you practise speaking with an AI tutor. By creating an account you agree to them.

1. The service

Boh lets you hold spoken conversations with an AI tutor in a language you're learning, work through beginner lessons and scenes, and review vocabulary. It gives you feedback on your level based on how you speak.

Boh is currently a free, invite-only beta. It is under active development: features may change or disappear, and it may be unavailable at times.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Boh. Keep your login details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
Give us accurate information when you sign up.
One account per person.
You must be at least 13. If you're below the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.

3. The tutor is an AI, and it will sometimes be wrong

This is the most important thing on this page.

The tutor's replies, corrections, translations and level assessments are generated by AI language models. They can be wrong, misleading, or occasionally nonsense, in ways that sound perfectly confident.

Do not rely on Boh as an authority on a language. It is a practice partner, not a textbook and not a teacher.
The level it estimates for you is an automated guess. It is not a qualification, and it is not equivalent to a CEFR certificate from an examining body.
Do not rely on anything it says for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, or for anything where being wrong matters.

We filter nothing beyond what our AI providers do themselves. If the tutor says something offensive or inappropriate, please report it (Settings → Report a problem) and we'll look at it.

4. What you may not do

Don't:

use Boh for anything illegal, or to harass, abuse or harm anyone;
try to make the tutor produce illegal content, or content that sexualises children;
attempt to extract our prompts, API keys or credentials, or to use Boh as a general-purpose route to the underlying AI providers;
automate, scrape or hammer the service, or try to get round usage limits;
resell or redistribute access to Boh;
upload anything you don't have the right to share.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you say to the tutor and anything you write in the app.
You give us permission to process it in order to run the service: to transcribe it, send it to the AI providers who generate replies, store the transcript, and analyse it to update your learner profile. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly who receives what.
We may use anonymised, aggregated statistics (numbers that cannot be traced back to you, like "which lessons do people abandon") to improve Boh.
Apart from that, the permission ends when you delete your account, which deletes the content too.

6. Our content

The app, its lessons, scene scripts, prompts, artwork and voice selection are ours (or our licensors'). You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them inside the app. Don't copy or redistribute them.

7. Cost and fair use

Boh is free during the invite-only beta, with a weekly practice allowance per account so that one account can't consume the service for everyone. If we introduce paid plans later, we'll tell you before anything you use starts costing money, and you'll never be charged without agreeing first.

8. No warranty

Boh is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be available, error-free, or that the tutor will be accurate. It's a beta, and we'd rather say that plainly than bury it.

To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, and if you're a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim (while the beta is free, that is zero). This cap does not apply where section 8's carve-outs apply, and it never limits rights that consumer law gives you and does not let us take away.

10. Ending it

You can stop at any time: delete your account in Settings. That deletes your data; see the Privacy Policy.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we discontinue Boh. If we shut the service down, we'll give reasonable notice so you can export your data.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Boh after that means you accept the new version.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by Swedish law, and disputes go to the Swedish courts. If you use Boh as a consumer in another country, this doesn't take away protections or the right to bring a claim in your own country where your local law gives you those regardless of this clause.
